Single Action Shooting (Cowboy Matches)
Matches are held monthly during the spring, summer and fall months at the outdoor
range. During winter months rifle and pistol events only are shot at the indoor range.
These matches are action events utilizing single action pistols, pistol caliber lever action
rifles, and double barrel or other types of shotguns produced prior to 1899. Shooting
scenarios are based on props and events from the old west. Targets are large and at
moderate distances. We encourage participants to keep in the spirit of the old west by
dressing in western type clothing. Competitors are generous in sharing firearms with
new shooters.
