Range Rules and Safety Considerations
In order to provide the safest range
experience possible, we require that
each member and his/her guests abide
by the following rules. They are not
flexible!
General Rules:
· The use of alcoholic beverages or
controlled substances is not permitted at
any club function involving firearms.
· The host member will use common
sense and be responsible for the conduct
of guests they may bring to the range. It
is their responsibility to inform guests of
range rules and to see that they are
obeyed. The host member will be the
responsible range safety officer.
· The indoor range is open for member
use other than when scheduled events
are in progress. Check the calendar
posted inside the front door for a
schedule of shooting events. There will
be no member usage during scheduled
law enforcement range usage.
· Our clubhouse/range is furnished with
the funds and labor of the membership.
Please treat the facilities and equipment
with respect. Leave the area cleaner than
you found it. Members or their guests
found abusing the club facilities will result
in the member’s immediate suspension of
all club privileges, and the member may
be liable for any damages.
· The first person on site, other than for
scheduled events, will be the range
safety officer.
Shooting Range Rules:
· The ONLY firearms permitted to be
used in this facility are .22 Cal. Rimfire
rifles or pistols shooting ammunition,
which does not exceed 1500 fps
velocity. Specifically EXCLUDED from
use is single shot pistols firing
bottlenecked cartridges normally
considered rifle calibers, center fire Auto-
Mags, shotguns and any center-fire rifle.
· Both doors leading into the range must
be closed before any shooting occurs.
Eye and ear protection must be worn
during live fire. No firearm is to be
discharged in front of the 5 (five) yard
line.
· Only paper and cardboard targets are
to be used for individual practice and
must be down range of the RED five
yard (5 yd) line. NO STEEL targets are
to be used unless during an organized
match.
· Muzzle control will be maintained at all
times. Do not point guns at anything you
are not willing to destroy. NEVER
ALLOW YOUR GUN TO POINT AT
ANOTHER HUMAN BEING OR AT
YOURSELF.
· When holding a gun in your hand, the
finger shall not be inside the trigger guard
except when raised to the target in
preparation to shoot.
· DO NOT GO TO GROUND WITH
A GUN IN YOUR HAND unless you
are participating in an exercise that
requires you to kneel and shoot. If you
must pick up something you dropped,
holster your own gun first, and wait until
the entire firing line is holstered and
declared safe by the range safety officer.
· If there is a serious problem noticed
when at the range, please contact one of
the club officers as soon as possible.
· When you leave, police any brass and
trash, be sure the heat and lights are off,
and the door locks behind you.
I have read the above rules, fully
understand them, and agree to abide by
them. I have also received a duplicate
copy of these rules for my files, and
agree to periodically reread it and share
with my guests.
